Title: A Match Made In Heaven Part: 1 Rating: General Author: Angel Erika (that's me!) E-mail: Erika515@aol.com Author's Note: Hey everybody! What's up? Anyway, this is my very first fanfic to post. My first fanfic I wrote sucked, therefore, you will never see it (hahahahahaha <- evil laugh!)! You all read my Readme, right? Well, if you haven't, it said that I will gladly take the job of editor for anyone. First reason is coz it bugs me when there are lots of spelling and grammar mistakes in fanfics I read. Second reason is that I can read fanfics before you guys can! Nannynannybooboo! ^_^ oooookay.... Let's get it on! Disclaimer: Naoko Takeuchi owns Sailor Moon and I don't. However...I do own acts 11-12 of the English version of the manga, a poster of SM, a little spiral notebook, some stickers, a video tape with all of my favorite episodes on it, and 12 MP3s of SM songs! Oh yeah, I also have translations of SM and other mangas by Naoko in my PC (thank u Alex Glover for translating them!) *whatever is in these little stars is what the person is thinking, k?* ********************************************************************** "So Serena," Molly said after coming out of the arcade, "You and Josh goin' to the Valentine's Dance tomorrow?" "Of course, Molly!" Serena answered, "How 'bout you? Goin with Melllllvin?" She gently nudged Molly in the side and winked at her. "Uh.....yeah, he asked me last night." Molly said, blushing. "Well Serena, I gotta go now. I'll call you tonight 'kay?" "Alright, I gotta go meet Josh at the park anyway. Talk to ya later, Molly!" The girls went in their different ways, Serena to the park, and Molly back to her house. ~*~ Serena looked down at her watched when she got at the park's gate *Hm...20 minutes early...that's a first, I'm not late!* she smiled to herself and walked towards "their bench," but she found another couple there. Thinking she should leave them alone, she turned around ready leave, but stopped dead in her tracks when she realized just who's mop of brown hair that was. "Josh...?" she whispered inaubly. Looking back at the bench where the couple was kissing, her eyes brimmed with tears. The world around her blurred and the only thing visible to her was that girl and Josh kissing. *No...no...NO! Josh....how...how could you?* she thought bitterly and turned on her heels, running at breakneck speed. *He was kissing Julia! Oh I can't blame him, she's so much prettier, and more popluar, and mature, and...and...and everything I'm not!* the warm tears were now rolling freely down her face. Through her blurred vision, she saw her destination. The cherry blossom tree...her cherry blossom tree were she had shed many tears in the past. This was her private area where she often cried about bad grades, or pressures of being Sailor Moon, sometimes she just came her to think. She let out a sob when she bumped into someone (AN: guess who.....), without even saying an apology, she just ran past this person. ~*~ Something, or someone, bumped into Darien's side. He was taking a walk in the park to get his mind off things (you know...the Moon Princess, the crystals, his past). At first, the image was vague, but he noticed who bumped into him. *Serena?* he thought, *she's crying...I wonder what happened. I swear if any one hurt her, they'll...wait a second, why am I being so protective? And Meatball Head of all people? She probably just failed another one of her exams. Still....maybe I should go see if she's alright.* Without another thought, Darien turned to the direction Serena ran off to. ~*~ Serena neared the tree and slowed down. She loved this place. The pink and white blossoms where beautiful, and they smelled nice, too. (AN: do cherry blossoms have a smell? if they don't, just pretend ^_^) It also offered a great view of the lake, and when the sun sets...it's breathtaking. She stopped, out of breath, and leaned against the trunk, looking out at the lake. It was mid-afternoon and the sun glittered off the clear, blue surface of the lake. Serena suddenly broke out into heartbreaking sobs and slid down the trunk of this tree into sitting position; she hugged her knees and buried her face in them. ~*~ Darien found Serena's miserable form under the beautiful tree. *She looks so sad, helpless....* He slowly walked towards her and sat down, unnoticed. "Josh....how could you?" she repeated for the upteenth time. *Josh? She's crying because of a guy? How could anyone hurt Serena? Even I wouldn't....* "Serena, are you okay?" he asked. Serena was startled, she didn't know anyone was there with her. "Who's Josh?" At the mention of the sickening name she snapped her head up. Serena was -very- surprised at who she saw sitting by her...so close...and yet she didn't even notice. "Go away Darien, can't you see I want to be alone? I don't need you to make fun of now." she said in a very hoarse voice. "No way. You're not gonna get rid of me -that- easily. Tell me what's wrong, maybe it will help you feel better." Darien answered, his voice dripping with concern. "I don't know....." she said uncertainly. *Should I tell him? I know it will help me feel better...but he'll just make fun of me.* "I'll buy you ice cream...." Darien bribed her. Serena smiled faintly at Darien's attempt to get her to spill. "Well.....okay....I guess...." "Okay, good. First of all, who's Josh?" With that, she broke down sobbing bitterly. "I...Josh... bench...Julia...kiss." she managed to choke the words out. Darien immediately understood what was going on. Carefully, he placed his hand on her shoulder, for a second or two, he felt a warm electricity flow between them. *I wonder if she felt that...* "Shh...it's ok.." he soothingly said, pulling her close. Serena placed her head on his shoulder and cuddled up beside him, still crying. *It's so nice being held by Darien...so warm...* she thought. ~*~ Time passed as Darien held Serena, silently conforting her. The sun was now setting and the orange glow glittered off the lake, making everything seem gold. He looked down at the angel in his arms who appeared to be in deep thought just staring out into the setting sun. She had stopped crying a while ago, but stayed in Darien's hold. She looked up at him to find him looking down on her. ~*~ When Serena turned upwards to look at Darien, he gasped softly. Her once happy, cheerful, bright blue eyes were dull and lifeless, the skin around it red and puffy. Her pink lips that always held a smile was nothing but a straight line. Her cheeks were tear-stained and pale instead of its usual rosy color. "Hey...uh...it's kind of getting late." he looked out into the lake, the sun was slowly dissapearing beneath the horizon. "Yeah, I should already be at home, my dad will get really mad if I stay out any longer." she said, also turning the the lake. "Do you want me to walk you home?" he asked. "Sure," she answered. Darien stood up and offered his hand to help her up, which she took. Again, the warm electricy flowed between them and around their hands, as if trying to tie them together. (AN: imagine that part in "Pocahontas" when John Smith shook hands with Pocahontas and the wind blew around them ^_^) They both felt it this time, but neither withdrew. ~*~ They walked towards Serena's home in silence, neither noticing that their fingers were still laced together. By the time they reached her house, the stars were twinkling and the moon was shining down on the couple. "Darien, thank you so much for being there and helping me feel better. I mean, you didn't talk or anything, but it still comforted me somehow, you know? Anyways, just thanks for staying with me, I don't know what I would have done if you weren't there." she said sincerely. "No problem Meatball Head, always happy to help out a friend." Without thinking twice, Serena launched herself into Darien's arms and hugged him. At first, Darien was surprised, but returned the gesture nonetheless. "I better get inside now before my parents go ballistic, if they haven't already. Bye Darien, I'll see you tomorrow!" she flashed him a big smile, all traces of earlier tears gone. "Thanks again." "Bye Meatball Head!" he said and started walking towards his own home. ~*~ Inside ~*~ "Serena Tsukino! Where in the world have you been?! Look! It's 8:30!" she pointed to the clock sitting on the mantle. "You missed dinner! You were supposed to be home by 7:00! You better have a good explanation young lady!" her mom scolded her. "Mom, calm down-" she started. "Don't you 'Mom, calm down' me young lady! I will not calm down until you explain why you were out so late!" she interrupted. "I'm trying to. Okay..." Serena sat down at the dining table. "I walked to the park today and I saw..I saw..Josh kissing another girl. Julia to be exact, the prettiest, most popular, mature girl in Juuban High. I don't blame him though...she's everything I'm not. I'm just stupid and ugly." Serena's mom immediately softened up. "Aw..my poor baby. Honey, you're not ugly, you're very beautiful, you took after me!" Ilene Tsukino was answered by a giggle. "And you're definately -not- stupid, you may get bad grades on tests, but that's only because you don't try hard enough. I have seen you do -very- smart things with my very own eyees. Don't -ever- let anyone tell you you're stupid." she said gently, but firmly. "Thanks mom." she said with a smile, "Darien was there with me, too. And get this, he was actually being.....nice." "Wait a second, Darien? As in the famous 'I-hate-Darien-he- always-makes-fun-of-me' Darien?" Ilene asked, wide-eyed. "Yup, that's him alright." "I knew that boy liked you...."Ilene said with a mischievous smile. "Like me? Darien? No way, he hates me, he was just being nice 'coz he felt sorry for me. Besides, what do I care? I don't like him that much either." *Do I?* She asked herself silently. "Hm...'not -that- much' eh? So you do like him, just 'not -that- much'?" Another mischievous glintt sparkled in Ilene's eyes. "MooooOOOOoooooM...don't start! I do -not- like Darien Chiba!" Serena whined....as usual. "Alright, anyway, you must be very hungry, I'll go get you some dinner, I'll be right back." Serena's mom walked into the kitchen. This was one of those mother-daughter moments when mothers and their daugthers act as if they were best friends instead of "mom and daugther." Serena and her mom were always, or at least most of the time, like this. Too bad it got ruined so abruptly..... "SERENA TSUKINO!!!! YOUNG LADY, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?! YOU WILL EXPLAIN, AND YOU WILL EXPLAIN RIGHT NOW! YOU -BETTER- HAVE NOT BEEN OUT WITH A BOY OR I WILL....I'LL....I'LL GET MY SHOTGUN! DO YOU REALIZE WHAT TIME IT IS?! DO YOU REALIZE YOU MISSED DINNER?! DO YOU KNOW HOW WORRIED YOUR MOTHER AND I HAVE BEEN?!" Ken shouted at the top of lungs and shook the Tsukino household. "KEN! SHUT UP!" Ilene glared at her husband, "Serena doesn't need this from you right now, go back upstairs. Here Serena," she placed the meal in front of Serena. "you can tell me about Josh, Julia, and Darien while you eat, okay?" "'Kay mom" "Josh?......Julia?......Darien?! Who in the world are these people?! And you better have a good explanation why you have -female-, I hope, friends who are named Josh and Darien. If those are guys, I swear I'll get my shotgun!" Ken asked, confused. "I said, GO BACK UPSTAIRS! It's none your business!" "Yes ma'am," Serena's dad was scared of his wife, knowing that if she gets angered anymore, he'd be sleeping in a tent on the front yard. "But you better have an explanation for me tomorrow at breakfast Serena." "Mom? Why's dad yelling so loud?" Sammy came down the stairs rubbing his eyes in fake sleepiness. "Sammy go back to bed, " Serena's mom said through clenched teeth, daggers in her eyes. "Uh...Y-yes m-ma'am" Sammy knew his mom was mad and ran right back up the stairs following his dad. Ilene looked over at her daughter who was chowing down her food, wait, chowing is an understatement, how about -inhaling- her food?"Okay Serena, first question, you had a boyfriend and never told me?!" "Uh...well....mom...I'm sleepy, can I go to bed now?" Serena said, trying to hide the blush creeping up to her cheeks. "Normally, I'd let you go, but this is gonna be a long night Serena." ********************************************************************** ~FIN!~ End Part 1 of "A Match Made In Heaven" 10/12/99 OHMYGOSH!!
