I could have SWORN i wrote it..." I'm sorry! I didn't copy you or
anything@ It's prolly PURE coincidence!!! coz I've been getting
heaps of suggestions to use this storyline.... So I'm just going
alogn with what you guys wanted to see.
Oh andbefore we start.. the song in the last chpater... was sung
by Brian McKnight... called Lonely. On his Back at One album,
Anyways~ On with the story..

~yes there is~ those words echoed through Darien's head a million
times... and yet... he couldn't work out what was the *one* thing
she was going to do. He had been driving all over the property
now for at least half-an-hour and it was nearing 11:30. [She
must have left for the city... probably at her apartment.]

She sat intently on thebench facing the lake. It was a warm
sunny day and the breeze was a relaxing cool one. "There's only
one thing you can do.. isn't there?" She said it aloud to her
self again and again tryign to prove that there was a bigger
meaning behind it. The only thing she could conclude was that
he didn't want the baby...  SHe sat there for what seemed like
forever and had concluded that she couldn't *not* have the baby,
It just seemed very unfair for the small thing that was inside
her to never be able to experience the world just because she
didn't have the most glorious upbringing. So what if her father
didn't want her.... Serena was positive she would be able to
giveit enought love. Probably not the same love... but as much
love a mother could give. But how was she goign to tell Darien
she had gotten ridof it? How was she going to cover the fact
she was going to keep it without him knowing and shredding her
to pieces? She sat in front of the lake pondering for almost
half the afternoon when her stomach started grumbling and echo.
"whoops... poor dear! i forgot *all* about you with all that
thinking on keeping you!" And she hurried across the street to
a near by cafe. She piled up on the food as she sat nearby a
window. Halfway through her croissant she saw a silver porche
stationary at the traffic lights. IT was an open top convertable
and the owner had pulled it's top down to enjoy the breeze and
warmth of the sunlight. Though it wasn't the fancy rich car
which had atracted her attention, but the driver of it. He had
a mob of rich ebony black hair and a pair of sunglasses hiding
his rich blue eyes. Serena could recognise him anywhere.
She stared out of the window until the car just sped of in the
direction of her apartment. She sat in the cafe for what
seemed like a good 30 minutes. She looked at the clock. [Great
its raining] She picked up her bag and headed towards her
apartment  to find shelter seeing it as only goign to be a 5
minute walk under shelter anyways.
When she arrived to her apartment to see an extremely angry
Darien sitting at her dinner table. She took off her shoes when
he got out of his seat and stormed over to where she was
standing. She sulkily backed away hiding behind the coat
hanger. "Where the *hell* have you been???" He grabbed her
wrist and pulled her out of her hiding spot. "I... I.. I've
been to the clinic" She stuttered out liek a frightened rabbit.
"AND?" he was obviously not inhis best mood and wasn't in the
pleasant mood either.	"I...I got rid of the child..." SHe muttered
	"You *what*??? How on earth could you do that? it was
*ours*" His eyes were like a storm at sea brewing and Serena
wasn't enjoying any of this. "SO WHAT IF IT WAS OURS... I
WOULDN'T WANT MY CHILD TO BE BROUGHT INTO A WORLD WHERE HER
FATHER DOESN'T CARE AND HAS AS MANY FLINGS AS A CHICKEN HAS
FEATHERS!!" she was so angry she would have said more but he
was too overpowering compared to her. He motioned hsi body
closer to hers. She struggled to get out of the grip he had on
her, but it wasn't working. SHe was as helpless as a mouse now.
He had her pinned against the wall, the perfect oppurtunity to
do whatever he wanted to her.But he let go... let go picked
up his coat and left the apartment. "Goodbye... Serena.." It
rang in her mind... the goodbye sounded so.. so very final.

IT had been almost two months now, Serena hadn't heard anything
from Darien. There had been no income... no letters.. no phonecalls.
[What do you expect? It's not like your carryign his child anymore
according hto him] SHe thought bitterly to herself as she flicked
through the channels.
Mina and Andrew had now been together for almost 6 months, and were
planning to marry in 2 weeks. Serena's bitter thoughts on life were
suddenly interrupted when her bubbly blonde friend came hustling
through the aprtment door with a new tan and a smile to envy.
	"HEY GIRLFRIEND! I missed ya!" SHe hugged Serena gently
	"How was Bali?" SHe paused "I take it back... you'd think
living in a trash can with Andrew would be called fun"
	Mina giggled. "SO? have you been shoppin for a bridesmaid's
dress?" Mina asked as she unpacked her bags.	"Mina... I dunno"
	"What do you mean *I Don't know*??"	"I mean..."
	"It's Darien isn't it???" Mina sighed heavily "I understand... he'll
be the best man.. well I think he is anyways... Don't worry about itSere"
	"It's not that.... It's just I dunno if I can *fit* into one of those
dresses" Serena laughed
	"Oh Sere! your as skinny as ever! You don't even *look* pregnant...
if I hand't known you.. I'd think you were normal like everyone else."	"Really?"
	"Promise... " She continued to unpack "Anyways, I can't believe
your gonna have the baby without him" Serena walked over towards
the Hi-Fi and put in the 112 CD before sitting down. "I dunno... I
mean... I'm pretty Sure he doesn't want it."
	"Well.. he hasn't mentioned anythign about it, but he's been
more distant than usual... he hasn't seen Saffron ... or anyone
else in ages... he barely comes out to join the rest of the family
at dinner and he's always locked up in his room or study.. the onlytime
*anoyone* sees him is at work"	"Aren't we the Ice king" Serena muttered
	"Pardon?"	"Oh ... nothing!" Stretchign the tired blonde yawned "Man, I'm
pooped... I'm gonna go catch some Z's before dindin.. have fun babe"
And she walked into the room to sleep... At this period of time...
Mina and Lizzy were sharign a room now, and Serena had her own room,
there were bits and pieces she had collected for the baby, it was
decorated ideal for a baby girl.

It was a warm summer day in January when Serena and Mina steeped out
of their apartment and went shopping for Mina's wedding. The wedding
was to be held in exactly 10 days time and Serena *still* didn't havea dress.
	"Turn around..." Mian sat on the soft padded seat as Serena
modelled the last dress of the day.
	"Mina!! are we done yet? This has been the twelth dress I've
tried on!!" Serena whinged
	"Your gonna be the belle of the ball... after me of course"The two laughed
	"Which will be your choice miss?" the sales assitant walked
up to Mian courteously.	"The fourth dressed she tried"
	"Ok, Miss... can you pelase step into that dress so we can
make some adjustments?"
After all the measurements and adjustments were recorded, The two
left to shop for some *more* baby goods. The couldn't help it,
everything they saw was so adorbale.. and Serena still had a large
amount of money to spare from when she worked for the Sheilds'
family. And Mina just lieked to splash out on her best friend.
	"Phew I'm drop dead*TIRED*" Mina plonked herself and the
bags onto their couch. "I'm gonna shower and then go for a short
stroll in the park."

She stepped out of the house in a summery dress. It was plain,
and it didn't show her stomach. She walked towards the park when
she saw a familiar figure sittin on a bench. A figure she hadn't
seenfor too long.
[Ok .. get a grip.. all you hafta dois ignore him.. he's not there..
keep walking] She walked down the gravel path and walked towards the
small wharf. She loved the wharf. SHe could dip her feet and and feed
the ducks. As she was heading there she head a familiar voice finally
call out to her [WHY??? WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME??] She turned
aroudn and smiled sweetly. "Hi Dare... Long time no see"	"Likewise..."
	"I'd love to stay and chat... but I gotta bookit" and she started
to walk quickly to the direction where shehad just coem from... HOME.
	"Serena.. wait... I .. i just wanna say this.... I'm really
sorry about what happened between.. us..." Before he could continue she
butted in "Sure you are.. and i forgive you..." Makign it sound so
simple andlight hearted "Well.. it's getting dark.. I better be getting
home" SHe started to walk towards her apartment when he chasedup and
stoped her. "WAIT!... I have to give you this." It was a small package.
	"You've been sittign there expectign me havent you?" Serena asked
	"No.. I just happened to carry it everywhere.... just.... just
incase I ever see you" He astuttered. fOr the first time in his life,
Darien Shields was unsure about himself.
SHe started up the gravel path towards the main footpath when the wind
blew and the dress clung and showed her figure. Serena not takignnotice
as she was used to it... but Darien picked it up.
	"I though you gave up the child"
	"I beg your pardon?" She turned around looking stunned and shocked
at the handsome man in front of her	"I thought you gaev it up"	"I did..."
	"Then whats that?"	"Whats what?"	"Don't play stupid with me"	"I'm not"
	"I know what i saw ok.. you had a small belly... you were alwaysslim"
	"It's nice fo you to take notice.. but I gave it up... Thats that.
I just happened to have gained a few pounds." aNd she walked off.
By the time she got to her apartment, Mina was walkign back in from the
balcony. "I see youhad a run in with *him*"
	"Indeed..unfortunately.. and he almost busted my lil secret" SHe held
onto her stomach	"He's gonna find out sooner or later you know..."
	"Not if I canhelp it... I'm planning to move to live with my AuntGeraldine"
	"WHAT?" Mina asked wide-eyed. "BUt she lives all the way in Hong-Kong."
	"I know that.... it's not liek they can't speak english!" Serenasmiled.
	"But when?"	"After your wedding.. He won't notice the lump yet... If I leave
any later, he'll bust me.. and I'll be in trouble..."
	"BUt I'll never get to see the baby.."
	"I tell ya what.. I'll letcha name it... then you can always be a
part of it... Deal?"	"Deal..."	"Pinkswear it" Serena raisedher pinky
	"Pinky swear" And Mina shook to this.

Thaty night Darien paced around the house impatiently... Fianlyl
Andrew walked in "Andrew!"
	"Nice welcoming.. I never kenw I was so loved..." He joked
	"No jokes.. who's gonna be the bridesmaid at your wedding???"
	"Who do you think? It's Puh-retty obvious... she *is* Mina;sbest friend..."
	"Thougth so..."	"Wjhats wroing.. thought you'd behappy to see her again."
	"So did I.."	"But???"	"I saw her today..."	"AND???"
	"She still has the baby ya kno"
	"Why do you say that?" the angry man with ebony hair stood up
	"I saw her stomach andrew! It's huge! Compared to before. SHe
hasn't just *EATEN* her way to that weight"
	"Well... you did leave her pretty heart broken... girls *do* eat
when they're heartnbroken" Andrew pointed out
	"Well.. I'd love to talk to ya Dare but I hafta call mysweetie
now.. Nite" ANdhe left the room leaving Darien alone to think
	[why isn't she tellingme??? whats wrong??? She doesn't honestly
thinkI never wanted that baby... did she??]

that nigth, before she went to sleep, she took one last look at the
small package Darienhad handedher ealier that day. It was wrapped
elegantly with pinkpaper and friled with a white ribbon. She took one
last look before pulling out a box and throwing it in. THe box, all
the awful reminders of Darien and the time she had spent with him,
all their photos, all the clothes he thought made her beautiful,
basically, anything he had a part of. She threw it in the box without
thinkigntwice and pushed it back under her bed.

THe big day FInally arrived, Mina walked down the aisle... Belle of
the ball... like they had always dreamed...Serena was unfortunate...
she'd probably *neveR* get married... espcially when she was tagging
along a litle girl. Life would never be the same for her. She shed
tears ofjoy for her friend...a friend who she shared half her lifewith,
all her secrets, the one she called whenever she had boyfriendproblems.
And now, she'd be leaving. SHe'd be married to the rich, well-known
Andrew Grey, Cousin of Darien shields. [Well, there goes one eligble
bachelor] HE had finally found the right person. and Mina had achieved
her goal, tomake her the envy of every single other girl in the whoel
world. And she had suceeded, in every single way... Serena on the
other hand was rthe failure half, she had lost they guy, gotten
pregnant to him, and would prolly die an OLD lonely woman. Sheshuddered
at the thought
Across her stood a very happy, excited, proud... Andrew Grey, and a
smiling, what seemed happy, go-lucky rich boy Darien shields, who had
happened to have brougth a date. SHe was a blonde bombshell, a typical
blonde with blue eyes, bloonde hair, and a nice tan, big breasts and a
high squeaky voice along with an IQ of groun Zero... she was *worse*
than Serena. [Well... I guess he should have ben over me by now anyways
It's been a while now.. he is afterall... eligbale bachelor...]
After the wedding Serena left early, feelign extremely sick. "I'mreally
sorry Mina, Andrew... I feel totalyl sick..."
Mina understandign straigth away nodded and called for a cabimmediately.
She would beleavign tommorrow, and still had plenty of packignanyways...
at least she'd be killing time.
WHen she got home, it was cold and lonely... everyoen was at Mina's
wedding, and of coruse she would have been there too, if Darien wasthere
with her. Now Mina had moved out, offically, the apartment seemed a lot
emptier, and she hadn;t even takenanything withher really... sOon she'dbe
gone, and her haven would offically belong to Lizzy now.
Out of curioisty, Serena dug out the package Darien had given her and
tore of the pink paper. There were three things in there. A velvet box,
a small wrapped package and a letter. She tore openthe enevlope andread

Dearest Serena,
	By the time you read this.. It's probably too late anyways... I've
lost the only things that really matter to me in life... you and thebaby.
I guess its too late for this now, but there's a gift.. a Gift I was
saving for the baby especially. I want you to be in happy inlife, In a
way I'm glad you gave her up.. i never would have lived up to the
expectations of a good father anyway. Find someone new,  find someone
special... find someone who can love you more than I ever could... and
spend the rest of your life with him.BEhappy for all it's worth, andI'll
be satisfied. Enclosed is a locket... for you to hand down to whoever's
child it may be, I'll always love you... I'm sorry...							Darien

The familiar curvy writing flowed acorss the page like waves, whena
tear suddenly tapped against the page causing the inky writign tosmudge
and run. SHe quickly open the velvet box. A locket. Opening the locket
she found there was one single picture of her, and the other side hadbeen
left empty. Quickyl she toreopen teh other gift. IT was a pink pacifier
(or dummy.. or whatver the hell ya wanna callit) with a pink ribbon
tied around it. [He did want the baby after all... this was all amistake
Ohhhh itsa all my fault.. DArien.. what am I gonna do?]
She looked at the clock 3am. It was a bit late, but nonetheless she had
to tell him. SHe dialled the familar number into the phone and thephone
rang... 2 rings.... 3 rings... 4 rings.... 5 rings... just as she wasabout
to hang up, a groggy male voice picked up on teh other end. "Hello?Who's
calling?"	"Um..." She bit her lip hesitatign for a moment "Can I please speak
to Darien"	"Speaking"	"It's Serena" His eyes immediately shot open as he sat up
	"Serena?! why are you calling now:?? shouldn't you be sleeping?"
	"I'm leavign tommorrow, and I just wanted to call and say goodbye."
	"Oh..." there was a hint of dissapointment inhis voice "Did you
open the gift I gave you?"
	"It was lovely... thankyou" Her voice was emotionless and cold
	"What time's your plane?"	" 7:15"	"I ssee"	"Well.. goodbye Darien..."
	"goodbye Serena"
And shehung up... the dialtone beeped on Dariens line. Hedropped thephone.
Was she honestly goign to just get up and leave?

Early the next morning Serena woke up early and packed her final items.
She dragged her suitcase out of the door as she gave the apartment
one last look, for who knows when she'll ever see it again. The door
clicked quietly behindher as she dragged the suitcase towards the lift
and hailed a cab towards the airport.
Her friends had been there to see her off. She hugged the last of them,
"Bye mina, goodluck with your family" she winked
"Andrew.. take care of mina.. Or else!" She punched him playfully
"Leets, I'll miss all your yummy food"
"Ami, hope by the next timeI see you, you're the doctor you wanted tobe"
"Rei... Goodluck with chad" She winked"I'll miss you all... goodbye" She waved
"Serena!" a voice called. She turned around. "We've decided a name forthe
baby" Mina called. "What?"
"Reeny! Call her reeny" She smiled as she turned her back on herfriends,
and her best friend, the one she had shared all her childhood dreams.
       "Flight 709 to Hong Kong is boarding now... Last call"
Serena turned around and gave onelast smiled to her friend as sheheaded
down the long tunnel to her flight. Siting in her seat, she stared outthe
window as she held on tight to the locket Darien had givenher.

He swerved and parked neatly in the car parkignspace as he ran up the
set of long stairs.  "Andrwew!" The small group turned around. "Where's
Serena??" Andrew shook his head "You missed her Dare... It's over..."
"But the baby...""Did you forget?? There is no baby""THERE IS....THERE IS"
"Darien... she's gone and theres no baby" Andrew said regretfully as
he led Mina out of the airport. For the first time in Dariens life, he
lost, there was never anything he couldn't win... except until now...

3 years later...
Serena was sitting on a plane back home, but this time with a smallgirl
with Pink hair. the little girl had fallen asleep against her mother,
dressed in a simple plain floral dress, she had her hair up inpigtails..
just liek the style her mother had donned so logn ago,Always curious
about who her father was, but all her mother ever said was... "A lovely
man who would have cared very very very much"
She took one look at her daughter before picking up the new gossip
weekly magazine in front of her. On the cover, a picture of Andrew and
Mina. The title stating clearly "Grey and Wife, intend on startingfamily
this summer" Below it a smaller picture of Darien "Darien says Melanie
Smith is not the one"
flicking through hse noticed Darien had ditched *yet another* model.From
Serena's calculations, that woudl ahve been the twelth in the lastmonth,
and they were all always blonde hair blue eyed.
<Passengers, this plane willsoon be coming to a stop, please put onyour
seatbelts.>Serena shook Reeny lightly on her shoulder. "Reeny...Renny dear....
it'stiem to get up... the plane's gonan stop soon" The small girl stretched
as she rubbed her eyes.

Serena held a small hand out of the cab as she quickly brought the 2other
suitcases with her. She quickly headed in the lift as she pressed the
button. The apartment block hadn't changed one bit as she rested her
tired body against the plush carpet walls. *ping*
"Moomy! tiem to get out!" The little girl pulled her mothers creamcotton
dress. "Well.. here we are sweetie... mommy's old home." She unlockedethe
door, and Lizzy was sittin on the couch watching cartoons when thesmall
click of the door caugth her attention, she gasped. "SERENA! your back!
oh my god oh my god... whos this lil gooooorgeous darling?"
After hours of catching up... Serena finaly gave into Reeny's whining.
"Can we got yet? Pleeeeeease?"
"Oh alright!... Liz, I'll be back  later.. we'll continue catching upthen"
"C'mon Renie, Go put on your shoes."

Darien was walking along the street dressed in a polo and a pair ofjeans.
It was a warm summers Day, And 3 years since *she* had left. Hehadnever
manafged to track her down, and lost all hopeof the baby being alive.He
was walkign steadily when a mob of pink hair caugth hsi attention.There
at the ice cream stand stood a little girl on tip toes, nose pressed
against the cool glass decidign what to get. Her hair... a veryfamilair
hairdo, a hair do of the past. And she was obviosuly having difficulty
reachign up to see what she wanted. He walked up and lifted her up. She
turned around hesitantly "Mister, let me go.. I'm okay.."
"Don't worry I won;t hurt you... I just thought you needed soem help"His
voice was low, but worm withemotion. "No it's ok.. my mommy's overthere"
she pointed, and Darien spotted a redhead siting at a nearby bench,"She
gave me money to get soemice cream""Wel... what would you like?"
She pressed her nose against the glass as she decided carefully..."Hmm..
I don't know... I can;t decide... I want a chocolate one... but i also
want a cookies and cream... but i can't afford both"
"one scoop chocolate and one scoop cookies and cream pelase" Darien put
the small girl down as he reached into his pocket for his wallet. Hepaid
for it and yanded the small girl the ice cream. " How old are you? you
seem awfulyl smart"
"Three years olf.. I'm turning four in July" She smiled as her icecream
smothered mouth continued licking the treat.
"Well.. your mother must have taught you well... Ive gotta get homesoon...
So why don;t you ruish off to your mommy now" He smiled flashign hsi
perfectly white teeth. But before he caould calk off her sticky small
fingers grabbed a hold of one of his fingers "Wait!! I want you to meet
my mommy first.. she'll wonder how I got this double cone" She dragged
the man over towards the bench, though the red head had gone and there
sat a very impatient blonde. "Reeny! *therE* you are! I was gettingworried,
*god* your a mess... let' sget you cleaned up." She opened her purseand
pulled out a packet of tissues as she began cleanign Reeny up. Darien
froze.... the blonde... the voice.... It was... it was Serena. She was
so flushed and into cleaning Reeny up shedidn't notice she washolding
onto someone's hand until she got to cleanign her small sticky hands.
"Oh! sorry sir...I'm so sorry for my daughter's pestering you" Shelooked
up. her eyes lost in a pair of mysterious deep blue eyes. "Darien..."SHegasped.
