Title: A Match Made In Heaven Part: 7 (lucky 7!) Rating: PG Author: Angel Erika E-mail: Erika515@aol.com AN: -_-;; Still too short!! Argh!! Let's face it, I can't write long chapters! Oh well. :) I'm sooooo sorry for the long hiatus!! ^^;; My excuse is at the bottom. I really started to write after I got a few demands in my mailbox. ^^;;;;; Disclaimer: I don't own Sailor Moon. Naoko Takeuchi and some big companies do. Right now, she's probably surrounded by Darien/Mamo-chan look-alikes... Life is so unfair. ^_^ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Darien and Serena walked, with their hands unconciously woven together, towards their school's gym. Serena's hair glistened like spun gold under the street lamps, and her long, iridescent skirt flowed around her like water. She didn't notice that she had an audience, though they grimaced once they saw who it was beside her. Darien didn't look too bad himself. Nice and crisp. He had the usual, half smile on his face, but a new look in his eyes. One that made all the girls around him melt like ice out in the sun. Some had jealousy burning within them and felt a resentment towards Serena, while other girls were sighing dejectedly with wistful looks on their faces. He could feel Serena quivering, even with just his light grasp around her hand. "Serena, are you okay?" he asked with a soft tone. "Uh...yeah...fine...Darien." she paused almost uncertainly and said, "I'm scared..." "Of what?" "I...don't know..." "You're probably just nervous." They stopped and Darien turned to Serena, placing his his other hand over hers. "Don't worry about that Josh person. I'm here now, and I wouldn't make a stupid mistake like he did." She took a deep breath and looked him straight into his eyes, where she found so much honesty, it was almost overwhelming. There was something else there, too. Something she couldn't quite put her finger on; all she knew was that she liked it. "Let's go, we should go in now." Darien said. Instead of holding her hand, he slipped him arm around her waist, holding it there casually and carefully, yet protective and possesive at the same time. He didn't think twice about it, which was unusual for Darien, who often thought things through. He rarely ever acted on impulse. *This is what she does to me...* he thought while a grin spread over his handsome features. (AN: "handsome" in an understatement ^^;;) They entered Crossroads's gym; it had a "Moonlit" theme. The lights were dim, and sparkling stars dotted the walls. A large crescent moon hung at a lit corner, seeming like it wasn't at all held by string. The dancefloor was sprinkled with flower petals, making it a scene of beauty, it was almost impossible to think that this was where Serena was tortured everyday in gym class. No, this wasn't your usual pink and red hearts Valentine's dance, it was the perfect place to show love and affection for your significant other. *The dance committee did a really good job in this place...* Serena thought as she looked around, out of habit, for her friends. She spotted them sitting at the bleachers, Lita flirting shamelessly with another one of her Freddy-look-alike crushes, Amy was probably keeping herself busy by doing math in her head, and Molly was almost adoringly watching Melvin pick nuts off a cookie. There was another person there that she didn't expect to see, and with a shaggy-haired "rockstar," too! She stared for a while, mouth gaping open, at Raye clinging onto Chad's arm, who seemed delighted with the position. "Well -there's- something you don't see everyday." she said, stunned. "What?" Darien inquired, hearing her voice above all the noise and chattering in the room. He followed her gaze, and his jaw nearly hit the floor. "Uh...is that...?" "Raye and Chad." she answered faintly. "Er...let's go say hi then," they walked over to the small group, staring the whole way. "Hi...guys..." Serena greeted. "See? I told you, Raye! Darien took Serena to the dance!" Lita snorted at Raye, barely being able to contain her triumph. "Well, well. So you -did- have a thing going on didn't you?" Raye asked with a cocked eyebrow. "Care to spill some details?" "Uh..well..." they started. "Well, c'mon! Are you guys a 'thing' now? Or are you just 'friends?' Or will you just go back to your taunting and teasing like before? Oh, and if you think your little charades kept us from seeing that you liked each other...in your dreams." Lita and Raye urged them. "Spit it out!" "Well...um..." "Oh come off it guys. Leave them alone. Just be happy that Serena isn't whining and wailing about Darien teasing her." Amy said logically. "I resent that! I do -not- wail." "Yes, you do." Raye answered for everybody. (AN: What's a SM fanfic without a couple of Serena-Raye cat fights? ^_~) "No, I don't." Serena bit back forcefully. "Yes-huh," "Nuh-uh," "Ya you do, wanna hear how it goes?" "I don't wwwaaaaiiiiiiiiilllllll!" "And there you have it, folks! The 'Serena Wail!'" Before she could blow her top, Darien asked Serena, "Wanna go dance?" ~*~ They danced the night away. Literally. Hours passed, but not a single dance was a slow one. Until... A melody started out slowly, faint notes being played on a guitar. Darien noticed the tune almost immediately and took Serena's hand in his and slid his other around her waist. He whispered in her ear, "Listen to the lyrics." She nodded in response as she placed her hand on his shoulder. The lights grew even more dimmer than they were, and a soft voice rang throughout the dancefloor. I could feel the magic floating in the air Being with you gets me that way I watched the sunlight dance across your face And I've...never been this swept away All my thoughts just seem to settle on the breeze When I'm lying wrapped up in your arms The whole whole just fades away The only thing I hear... Is the beating of your heart... They fell into step, each word being embedded into Serena's mind. She suddenly found herself with a lump in her throat and couldn't speak, so she just...danced. 'Cause I could feel you breathe It's washing over me And suddenly I'm melting into you There's nothing left to prove Baby, all we need is just to be Each word grew louder, bringing much more impact on her ears... her heart. Darien's hand tightened around hers, and his arms pulled her in closer. She leaned contentedly on his chest, feeling the soft material rub against her cheek. Caught up in the touch Slow and steady rush Baby, isn't that the way that love's supposed... To be..? I could feel you breathe Just breathe... Darien's hand let go of Serena's and placed it around her waist to meet his other hand instead. In turn, she hugged him by the neck. They were now so close, he felt the sweet scent of her hair and skin engulf his senses. How could he have ever been so cruel to her? He heard the innocent angel in his arms sigh, and one thought crossed his mind. He made her happy. He made the girl he teased and annoyed on a daily basis genuinely happy. In a way I know my heart is waking up As all the walls come tumbling down Closer than I'v ever felt before And I know, and you know There's no need for words right now... Serena wished that she could stay in this position forever, to be held by the strong arms, and to smell the spicy fragrance of Darien's clothing. She listened to the steady beating of his heart; she felt it. The soft pounding was telling her something she couldn't quite decipher. Then she felt her own heart throbbing in her chest. The rhythm was of the same. Their hearts beat as one. 'Cause I could feel you breathe It's washing over me And suddenly I'm melting into you There's nothing left to prove Baby, all we need is just to be... Caught up in the touch Slow and steady rush And baby, isn't that the way love's supposed to be? I could feel you breathe... Just breathe... Caught up in the touch Slow and steady rush Baby, isn't that the way that love's supposed to be? I could feel you breathe... Just breathe... The singer's voice quieted, the song was nearing its end, but neither noticed. Once again, the world completely faded away from them, reality slipped away. All that was existing was them, dancing in slow circles, content in each other's arms. Hearts beating as one. I could feel the magic floating in the air... Being with you gets me that way.... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ End of part 7 2/17/00 <-yay!!
